Trigger Point dry needling

What is Trigger Point Dry Needling?

Trigger point dry needling is the process of using an acupuncture style needle to release tight muscles or muscle knots.  Trigger points are taught bands of muscle sometimes referred to as muscle knots.  These knots can cause pain in or around the muscle, weakness and compensation/overwork of other muscles.  When the needle is inserted into the trigger point the body has a series of positive effects.  These include flushing out painful chemicals (called nocioceptors), increasing oxygenated blood to the muscle, and resetting the nervous system to allow for better muscle contraction.  Trigger point dry needling is a highly beneficial tool in pain relief, injury recovery and overall muscle performance.
